The clean, Neoclassical architecture of the lakeside venue, Como Dockside, situated on Lake Como in St. Paul, Minnesota was the perfect place for the meeting of numerous influences and the inspiration for the theme. This styled wedding shoot is an edgy ode to Lake Como in Italy. Thematic colors woven into the styling represent the Italian flag but in rich subdued shades; the darkest red dahlia, ivory roses, and sage green olive branches. We wanted a sense of mid-century edginess and elegance, calling to mind Italian films from the early 60’s such as “La Dolce Vita” (perhaps even just a hint of James Bond), so we invited the models to have a dramatic mood about their posed attitudes. For a balanced dynamic, we added a touch of softness with an underlying hint toward the romanticism of Maxfield Parrish paintings, which are often framed waterside in classical settings. We had so much fun working collaborating with some amazingly talented vendors to create this shoot: Como Dockside, Positively Charmed, We’ve Got It Covered, Buttercream, Flutter Bridal Boutique, Mani Mela, Style by Cia, Heimie’s Haberdashery, Ignite Lighting & Entertainment, and Kristinadesignz.
